Revitalizing a Classic: The New Era of Tower District's Car Shows
The "Culture and Chrome" car show, held in Fresno's Tower District on March 29, revitalized the local tradition by showcasing around 350 diverse vehicles, ranging from a 1923 Ford T Bucket to modern Harley Davidson motorcycles. Unlike past events that focused solely on pre-1975 classics, this meet embraced all makes and models, reflecting the district’s cultural diversity. Hosted by the Hot Rod Coalition, the event attracted thousands of attendees who enjoyed the cars, vendors, and social atmosphere. For some, like David Barron of the Pharaohs Car Club, the appeal lay in the camaraderie and stories shared among enthusiasts. Anthony Granata, organizer and Fresno State alumnus, aims to enhance future shows with more volunteers and a traditional display format.
